my favourite cookbooks of 2024
Quite a simple list this year; and I’m cheating by including two food memoirs. But that’s what I read this year!
What I ate in One Year
Stanley Tucci’s facility to talk about food is brilliant, utterly captivating in a way that makes you run to the kitchen immediately. Simply delicious. Do not read hungry.
Fried Gold
Utterly enjoyable. Delicious and innovative food writing, with confidence and familiarity. And the bits about Nick self-analysing are sad and all too recognisable.
Simply Jamie
Something of a victory lap whereby Jamie rustles up treats familiar and new. More Jamie, still great.
Chinese Takeaway Cookbook
Discovered this off a recommendation. What a treat! Completely authentic stuff as Kwoklyn recreates the recipes from the Chinese restaurant he grew up in. Every recipe is a winner.
That was my year in cookbooks – what were your favourite books this year?
